Free LMS for Coaching Institutes: What Sikhami Gives You, and How to Start
Updated 12 October 2026
Sikhami is a free learning management system (LMS) for coaching institutes and tuition centres in India. Setting up your institute costs nothing and there is no subscription. You get video courses with tests and certificates, classroom batches with a weekly timetable and attendance, a fee book that issues receipts, and roles for your staff, all in one place, on the website and in the Android app.
It also does something most LMS software does not: it puts your institute in front of learners. Sikhami is a social network for learners, so your institute and every course get a public page that learners can find, follow and review. This page covers what you get, how to set it up, how Sikhami earns, and what it does not do yet, so you can decide with the full picture. If you are still comparing options, start with our guide to choosing a learning management system.
What you get, free
Everything below is part of a free institute on Sikhami. There is no plan to upgrade to and no trial that runs out.
| Part | What you get |
|---|---|
| Institute page | A public page for your institute and one for every course, where learners follow you, read reviews and ask questions |
| Video courses | Upload your videos or import a YouTube playlist, then arrange them in sections, with free preview lectures and lectures that open after a set number of days |
| Tests | Multiple-choice tests with an explanation for each answer, a pass mark and an optional time limit, marked automatically |
| Certificates | A certificate of completion with its own verification page, which you can switch off |
| Course analytics | Who enrolled, who is active this week, average progress, who finished, test results and where learners stop watching |
| Announcements and doubts | Announcements to every student of a course, in the app and by email, and doubts asked at the exact moment in a lecture |
| Classroom courses | Face-to-face courses with dates, class times, seats and fee: learners apply, you confirm |
| Batches and attendance | A weekly timetable for each batch, and present, late or absent for every class |
| Fees and receipts | Fee plans in monthly instalments, a fee book that shows what is overdue, and numbered receipts to print or save as a PDF |
| Team | Admin, teacher and accountant roles for your staff, and invitations for teachers to join your courses |
| Dashboard | Students in batches, attendance over 30 days, today's classes, fees collected and fees due |
Video courses with tests and certificates
A video course starts from one of two sources. Choose Upload videos to add your own recordings (each file under 2 GB, in MP4, WebM or OGG), or YouTube playlist to turn a playlist you already have into a course. Playlist courses are always free for students, and Re-sync brings in videos you add to the playlist later.
In the curriculum you arrange lectures in sections, rename and reorder them, mark any lecture as a free preview that anyone can watch, and set a lecture to open a number of days after a student enrols, so a long course unlocks week by week.
Tests
Add a test anywhere in a section. Questions are multiple choice with one correct answer and two to six options, and you can write an explanation that students see after they submit. Set a pass mark and, if you want, a time limit. Answers are marked automatically, and students can take a test again.
Certificates
When a student finishes every lecture and passes every test, they can get a certificate of completion with its own ID and a public page where anyone, such as an employer or a parent, can check it. The certificate is on by default, and you can switch it off for any course.
Analytics, announcements and doubts
Each course has an analytics view with the students enrolled, those active this week, average progress, those who finished and how many certificates were issued, a chart of enrolments over the last 30 days, a table of test results and a chart of where learners stop. You can download the student list as a CSV file. Announcements reach every student of the course in the app and by email. Students ask doubts at the exact moment in a lecture, and you see which ones are still waiting for an answer.
For students, progress and the playback position are saved, the next lecture plays on its own, and the speed goes from 0.5x to 2x, on the website and in the Android app.
Free or paid
Leave a course free, or set prices for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or lifetime access. Students pay online, by UPI, card or net banking on the website or through Google Play in the Android app, and you can make coupons for a paid course. A paid course uses uploaded videos, because playlist courses stay free. How Sikhami earns from paid courses is explained further down.
Classroom courses, batches and attendance
Most coaching still happens in a classroom, and Sikhami is built for that too. List a face-to-face course with its dates, class days and times, number of seats and fee (for the whole course or per month, or free), and optionally the language of teaching, study material and a free demo class. Learners tap Apply, you confirm or reject each application, and every confirmation takes one seat until the course shows Seats full. Students pay you directly for classroom courses; no money for them passes through Sikhami.
Run your classes in batches. Each batch has a name, a mode (in class, online or hybrid), a classroom address, a live class link for Google Meet or Zoom, start and end dates, seats, the teachers who take it and a weekly timetable.
Attendance takes a tap per student: present, late or absent, with the topic taught that day. Late counts as present in the totals. You, your admins and the teachers of that batch can mark it. Students you add to a batch by their Sikhami username see their own attendance percentage and fee status under My batches. Some teachers still like paper; our free attendance register uses the same three marks.
Fees and receipts
Give each student a fee plan: the total, split into 1 to 24 monthly instalments, with the first due date. The fee book then shows what is billed, received and overdue, and lets you filter and search by name, phone or batch.
When a parent pays you, record it with the mode (cash, UPI, bank transfer, card, cheque or other) and tap Save and issue receipt. Sikhami numbers the receipt for you and shows the date, who paid, the batch, what it was towards, the mode, the amount and the balance due, ready to print or save as a PDF. The fee book records the fees you collect yourself; parents do not pay batch fees through Sikhami. For what a receipt should contain, see our tuition fee receipt format.
Your team and your teachers
Add staff by their Sikhami username and give each a role. An admin runs batches, students, attendance and fees. A teacher marks attendance for the batches they take. An accountant keeps the fee book and issues receipts. Only you, the owner, manage the institute's details, courses, online students and earnings.
You can also invite teachers who have a Sikhami teacher profile to your video courses. They get the curriculum, analytics and announcements of that course, and if you choose to give them a share of the course's online sales, it is split automatically on every sale.
An institute page that brings you students
Your public institute page shows your logo, about section, courses and teachers, your address with directions, and lets learners follow you, read and write reviews, and ask questions. Each course has its own page too, with free preview lectures and a button to enrol or apply.
Learners reach these pages by browsing the categories you teach, which come from the subjects you pick when you set up, and the Face to face list shows classroom courses nearest first to learners who share their area. Because every page has its own link, you can share your institute or a single course on WhatsApp, on posters and in your Google Business Profile. Our guides to WhatsApp messages for tuition classes and getting tuition students show how.
Set it up, step by step
- Sign up on Sikhami, open Learning studio and choose New institute.
- Type the institute name and, if you like, pick what you teach, then choose Create institute. It is saved as a draft.
- In Details, add your logo, a username, an about section, your email and phone (each confirmed with a code), your full address and your location on the map. Your institute needs these before it can go live.
- Under Courses, choose New course, then Video course or Face-to-face course. Video courses are made on the website; classroom courses can also be made in the Android app.
- For a video course, choose Upload videos or YouTube playlist, build the curriculum, add tests, decide on the certificate, and set prices or leave it free.
- Under Batches, create your batches with their weekly timetable and add your students. Under Fees, give each student a fee plan.
- Under Team, add your staff by their Sikhami username, and invite teachers to your video courses.
A course goes live only under a published institute, so finish step 3 first.
How Sikhami earns, and what stays free
Setting up an institute, its page and course pages, free video courses, classroom courses, batches, attendance, the fee book, receipts, your team and the dashboard are all free, with no subscription.
Sikhami earns only when a learner buys a paid video course online: it keeps a share of that sale, and when the purchase is made in the Android app, Google Play takes its fee too. The Earnings tab shows every sale, each fee, any tax withheld and what is due to you, and your share is paid to the bank account you add. Fees for classroom courses and batches are paid to you directly, so Sikhami takes nothing from them.
Good to know before you start
- Live classes run on Google Meet or Zoom. A batch keeps the link, so students always find it, but the class itself is not hosted on Sikhami.
- Sikhami records batch fees and issues receipts, but it does not collect them or send fee reminders. Our WhatsApp templates include polite fee reminders.
- Parents do not have their own login. Students added by username see their own attendance percentage and fee status.
- Tests are multiple choice with one correct answer.
- Confirming a classroom application does not put the student in a batch; you add students to batches yourself, one at a time.
- Video courses are created on the website. Batches, attendance, fees, your team and classroom courses also work in the Android app.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sikhami's LMS really free?
Yes. Setting up an institute, video and classroom courses, tests, certificates, batches, attendance, the fee book, receipts and staff roles cost nothing, with no subscription or trial. Sikhami earns only when a learner buys a paid video course online, by keeping a share of that sale.
Can I use Sikhami for an offline coaching institute?
Yes. List your classroom courses for learners to apply to, run batches with a weekly timetable, mark attendance and keep the fee book with receipts. Students pay classroom fees to you directly. Video courses are optional.
Can I sell my courses on Sikhami?
Yes, video courses made from uploaded videos. Set prices for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or lifetime, and students pay online: by UPI, card or net banking on the website, or through Google Play in the app. Sikhami keeps a share of each sale, and your share is paid to your bank account.
Can I turn my YouTube playlist into a course?
Yes. Choose YouTube playlist when you create a video course, add tests and a certificate, and use Re-sync when you add videos to the playlist. Playlist courses are always free for students.
Does Sikhami work on Android?
Yes. Students learn on the website and in the Sikhami Android app. As an institute owner you can run batches, attendance, fees, your team and classroom courses in the app, and you create video courses on the website.
