Best App for Online Teaching in India: How to Choose the Right One

Updated 18 October 2026 · Facts checked against the sources listed at the end

No single app for online teaching suits every teacher, because teachers need different things. You will usually need a live video app, such as Google Meet or Zoom, plus a class tool or a course app. Free Google Meet meetings run up to 60 minutes and free Zoom meetings up to 40 minutes, each with up to 100 participants. Coaching and course apps such as Classplus, Teachmint and Graphy add your own app, courses or classroom technology, at prices set by each company. Sikhami is different. It gives you a free teacher profile that learners can follow, and a free LMS to sell courses. It does not host live classes for your batches.

This guide is for teachers and tutors in India who want to teach online. It explains four kinds of apps, with the free limits and prices from each company's own pages. Then it shows which app fits which teacher, and what to check before you choose.

Four kinds of apps for online teaching

Sikhami wrote this comparison, and we make Sikhami, so please read it with that in mind. We checked every detail about Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Classplus, Teachmint and Graphy on their own websites and Google Play listings on 18 October 2026. Prices and features change, so check them again before you decide. Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Classplus, Teachmint and Graphy are trademarks of their owners; Sikhami is not connected with any of them.

You will usually need one app from the first row, plus one from another row. The rest of this guide takes each kind in turn.

Live video apps: Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams

These apps run the class itself. You bring the students and collect fees in your own way, for example by UPI. Their free plans are enough to start, but the time limit decides how long a class can be.

AppFree plan
Google MeetUp to 100 participants and up to 60 minutes per meeting at no cost; no time limit for mobile calls and one-to-one calls
Zoom (Workplace Basic)Unlimited meetings for up to 100 participants, with a limit of 40 minutes per meeting; local recording in the desktop app and web portal
Microsoft Teams (free, for personal use)Meetings up to 60 minutes with up to 100 participants; 5 GB of file storage
Free plans of live video apps, as each company's own page states them (18 October 2026)

Google lists meeting recording among the extra features of its paid Workspace and Google One plans. Zoom's paid plans extend meetings up to 30 hours and add cloud recording.

Plan your class around the limit. A 60-minute batch fits a free Meet meeting. On free Zoom, keep each class under 40 minutes, or run two halves with a fresh link.

Class management: Google Classroom

Google Classroom is not a video app. It is where you post work, grade it and run quizzes. Quizzes are made in Google Forms, which can mark them automatically. Students join with a class link, a class code or an email invite. The Classroom app works on Android, Chrome and iOS devices, and Google says Classroom has no ads.

People over 13 can use Classroom with a personal Google Account. A personal account allows up to 250 teachers and students per class, and Meet group meetings of up to 60 minutes. Qualifying schools get more through Google Workspace for Education. Google lists tutoring programmes and for-profit education companies among those that do not qualify. Our Google Classroom page has the details.

Course and coaching apps: Classplus, Teachmint and Graphy

These apps suit teachers and institutes who already have students and want to teach and sell in one place, often under their own name.

Classplus

Classplus says its platform gives coaching institutes their own app. Its features page lists a course store inside your app, live classes with automatic recordings and tests with automatic correction. It also lists video lectures and your own website. Classplus does not publish a price list on its website, and asks you to book a free demo. See our Classplus alternative page.

Teachmint

Teachmint calls itself a classroom technology company. Its Android app, Teachmint AI Connected Classes, offers live classes with video, chat and screen sharing, and recorded sessions. It also has AI-made homework and quizzes, automated grading, attendance and announcements. Its core product, Teachmint X, is an interactive classroom panel sold to institutes and registered businesses, not to individual consumers. A plans page lists a Free Plan for its Connected Classroom offering and an Enterprise Plan through sales, with no prices shown. See our Teachmint alternative page.

Graphy

Graphy is built for creators, coaches and educators who sell courses, memberships, webinars and digital products under their own brand. Every plan includes a website builder, your own branded Android app, and unlimited live sessions and webinars. Launch costs ₹24,999 a year, plus 10% per sale or ₹10, whichever is higher. Grow is ₹49,999 a year plus 7.5%, Rise is ₹99,999 a year plus 5%, and there is a 14-day free trial. See our Graphy alternative page.

Sikhami: a free teacher profile and a free LMS

Sikhami is a social network for learners, on the website and in the Android app. Any teacher can make a free teacher profile in Learning studio. Learners can follow it, write reviews and ask questions. Institutes can invite you to teach their courses. If an institute sets a share for you, you get part of each online sale of that course.

You can also earn from your own account. Set a price on PDF notes, clubs, meetups and study rooms, or sell a membership with members-only clips. To sell a video course, create an institute, which is free, and add the course under it. A course can use your uploaded videos or a YouTube playlist, with tests and a certificate.

For live teaching, Sikhami has a few small tools on the website. Go live streams from your device and suits small sessions, with no paid entry. An online meetup is a video session for up to four people, for up to an hour, and you can set a joining fee. Study rooms are voice only. For a full batch class, use Meet or Zoom: each Sikhami batch keeps the link. See how teachers earn on Sikhami and Sikhami for teachers.

Setting up and using Sikhami is free, with no subscription. Sikhami earns only when a learner buys something paid online, such as a course, notes or a club. It keeps a share of that sale, and Google Play also takes its fee on purchases in the Android app. Before you save a price, Sikhami shows what you will receive per sale on the website and in the app. Classroom and batch fees are paid to you directly, and Sikhami takes nothing from them. Our free LMS page explains the institute tools.

Which app fits which teacher

  • You teach one student or a small group: Google Meet or Zoom, with fees by UPI.
  • You teach hour-long batches: a free Meet meeting fits 60 minutes; on free Zoom, keep classes under 40 minutes.
  • You set homework and quizzes for students you already teach: Google Classroom with a personal account.
  • You run a coaching institute and want an app in its own name: Classplus or Graphy, after a demo or trial.
  • You want interactive panels in your classrooms: Teachmint X.
  • You want learners to find you, and to sell notes or courses with no monthly fee: Sikhami, with Meet or Zoom for live classes.

These are examples of each kind, not a ranking. You can start with two free tools and add a paid one once your fees cover it.

What to check before you choose any app

  1. Does it work well on the phones and data plans your students have? Test it with two students first.
  2. Does the free plan's time limit fit your class length and batch size?
  3. Can you record a class, and where is the recording kept?
  4. How do students pay you, and what does the app keep from each payment?
  5. Whose name is on the app that students download?
  6. Can you contact your students directly, and take their details with you if you leave?

Good to know before you start

  • Sikhami does not host live classes for your batches. Each batch keeps a Google Meet or Zoom link.
  • Go live and online meetups suit small sessions. A meetup holds up to four people for up to an hour.
  • Sikhami does not give you your own app, your own web address or a website builder.
  • To sell a video course you need an institute. Publishing one needs a logo, username, about section, email, phone, full address and map location.
  • Courses built from a YouTube playlist are always free for students.
  • There is no DRM or download protection for videos, and no copy protection on notes once bought.
