Sikhami for n8n

Coming soon. The Sikhami node is built and is being published for n8n's review. Until it is, n8n's HTTP Request node works with a personal access token (below).

n8n is an automation tool you can run on your own computer or server, or use in n8n's cloud. The Sikhami package adds a Sikhami node for actions, a Sikhami Instant Trigger that starts a workflow the moment a new admission enquiry arrives, and a Sikhami Trigger that checks for other new things every few minutes.

The Sikhami node can also be a tool for n8n's AI Agent.

Workflows you can build

  • New Admission Enquiry → a row in Google Sheets and a message to your counsellor.
  • New Course Enrolment → a welcome email.
  • New Follower → a row in your contacts sheet.
  • A form on your own website → Add an enquiry on Sikhami.

Install the node, once it is published

On n8n you run yourself: Settings, Community Nodes, Install, then enter n8n-nodes-sikhami. On n8n Cloud it appears in the nodes panel after n8n has checked it.

Then connect it with a personal access token, which is the simplest way:

  1. On sikhami.com, go to Settings, then Connected apps.
  2. Under Personal access tokens, click New token.
  3. Give it a name, such as the tool's name. It can always see your account; also switch on Act for me or My institute's admissions if your automation needs them.
  4. Click Make token and copy the token. It starts with skh_pat_, and Sikhami will not show it again. Click Done.
  5. In n8n, create a Sikhami API credential and paste the token into API Token.

A token works like a password for what it allows. Keep it secret. If it leaks, delete it in Connected apps and make a new one.

Or use OAuth: create a Sikhami OAuth2 API credential in n8n and copy its OAuth Redirect URL. In Connected apps, click New developer app, paste that address under Redirect addresses and click Make app. Paste the client id and secret into the n8n credential and click Connect my account.

Until then: the HTTP Request node

  1. Make a personal access token, as above.
  2. Add an HTTP Request node. Set Method to GET and URL to a Sikhami address, for example https://sikhami.com/api/v1/lms/enquiries?institute_id=YOUR_INSTITUTE_ID.
  3. Set Authentication to Generic Credential Type, then Header Auth, and create a credential with the name Authorization and the value Bearer followed by your token.

Your institute's id is in the address of your Sikhami LMS workspace: in sikhami.com/lms/abc123/admissions, it is abc123.

What n8n may do on Sikhami

  • See your Sikhami account (always included): Your profile, your courses and progress, the meetups you joined, your notifications and new followers, and everything public on Sikhami.
  • Act for you (you choose): Join or leave free meetups and publish posts with pictures or videos as you. It can never buy anything, send messages or delete your content.
  • Your institute's admissions (you choose): For institutes you own or run: read admission enquiries (names, phone numbers, emails) and add new ones.

No app can buy anything, pay, send or read messages, run ads, delete your content or see your password. Private profiles and learners under 18 never appear in any app.

Disconnect n8n

  1. On sikhami.com, go to Settings, then Connected apps.
  2. Under Apps you allowed (or Personal access tokens, if you used one), find n8n.
  3. Select Disconnect (or Delete for a token) and confirm. It stops working with your account at once.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything?
No. The Sikhami node is free and open source (MIT). n8n's own plans apply to n8n Cloud.
Does it work on n8n I run myself?
Yes. A personal access token is the easiest way there, because it does not depend on your n8n's web address.
It says it needs another permission. What do I do?
You switched that permission off when you connected. Disconnect the app in Connected apps, connect it again, and leave the permission on this time.
