Sikhami for Zapier

Coming soon. Built and waiting for Zapier's review. It is not in Zapier yet; until it is, you can call Sikhami's API from Webhooks by Zapier (below).

Zapier links apps together without code. With the Sikhami app, something that happens on Sikhami, like a new admission enquiry, can start a Zap that adds a row to Google Sheets, sends an email or posts in your team's chat.

You connect your Sikhami account once, on a Sikhami page, and choose what Zapier may do.

Zaps you can make

  • New Admission Enquiry → add a row to a Google Sheet your counsellors share.
  • New Course Enrolment → send the student a welcome email from Gmail.
  • New Meetup Attendee → add them to a sheet, to plan seats.
  • New Follower → add them to a contacts list.
  • A new row in your walk-ins sheet → Add Admission Enquiry on Sikhami.

New Admission Enquiry is instant: turning the Zap on tells Sikhami to send each new enquiry to Zapier straight away. For the other triggers, Zapier checks every 1 to 15 minutes, depending on your Zapier plan.

Connect Sikhami in Zapier, once it is listed

  1. In a Zap, choose Sikhami as the app, then a trigger or an action.
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. A Sikhami page opens. Log in if you are asked to, read what Zapier will be able to do, switch off Act for you or Your institute's admissions if you do not want them, and select Allow.
  4. Zapier names the connection after your Sikhami username. Test the step, then turn the Zap on.

Admission triggers and actions need Your institute's admissions; Create Post and Join Meetup need Act for you. If one is missing, Zapier tells you which permission to switch on when you connect again.

Until then: Webhooks by Zapier

Webhooks by Zapier (part of Zapier's paid plans) can call Sikhami's API with a personal access token. First make the token:

  1. On sikhami.com, go to Settings, then Connected apps.
  2. Under Personal access tokens, click New token.
  3. Give it a name, such as the tool's name. It can always see your account; also switch on Act for me or My institute's admissions if your automation needs them.
  4. Click Make token and copy the token. It starts with skh_pat_, and Sikhami will not show it again. Click Done.

A token works like a password for what it allows. Keep it secret. If it leaks, delete it in Connected apps and make a new one.

Then call an address such as https://sikhami.com/api/v1/lms/enquiries?institute_id=YOUR_INSTITUTE_ID, with a header named Authorization whose value is Bearer followed by your token. The developer page lists every address.

Your institute's id is in the address of your Sikhami LMS workspace: in sikhami.com/lms/abc123/admissions, it is abc123.

What Zapier may do on Sikhami

  • See your Sikhami account (always included): Your profile, your courses and progress, the meetups you joined, your notifications and new followers, and everything public on Sikhami.
  • Act for you (you choose): Join or leave free meetups and publish posts with pictures or videos as you. It can never buy anything, send messages or delete your content.
  • Your institute's admissions (you choose): For institutes you own or run: read admission enquiries (names, phone numbers, emails) and add new ones.

No app can buy anything, pay, send or read messages, run ads, delete your content or see your password. Private profiles and learners under 18 never appear in any app.

Disconnect Zapier

  1. On sikhami.com, go to Settings, then Connected apps.
  2. Under Apps you allowed (or Personal access tokens, if you used one), find Zapier.
  3. Select Disconnect (or Delete for a token) and confirm. It stops working with your account at once.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything?
No. Sikhami charges nothing for this. Zapier's own plans and limits apply.
Does Zapier see my students' phone numbers?
Only if you allow Your institute's admissions, and only for institutes you own or run. What Zapier copies is then kept under Zapier's own privacy policy.
It says it needs another permission. What do I do?
You switched that permission off when you connected. Disconnect the app in Connected apps, connect it again, and leave the permission on this time.
