Account suspension and moderation

What happens when Sikhami's team acts on content or an account: removed content, suspended and banned accounts, the notices you see, and how to ask for help.

Updated 22 October 2026

Sikhami's team reviews reports and checks content against the Community guidelines. When something breaks the rules, the team can remove content or limit an account.

This article explains what you see when that happens, what you can and cannot do, and how to ask for a review.

What the team can do

  • Warn you and remove the content that broke the rules.
  • Hide or remove a post, clip, comment or other content.
  • Suspend your account until a date, or until the team restores it. You can still read, but you cannot post, comment or sell.
  • Ban your account. A banned account cannot be used to post, comment or sell, and it may no longer be able to log in.

The action depends on how serious the problem is and whether it happened before.

If your account is suspended

A red notice shows at the top of every page. You cannot close it. It says one of these, with the reason if the team gave one:

  • "Your account is suspended until (date and time). You can still read, but you can't post, comment or sell until then." The time is India time.
  • "Your account is suspended. You can still read, but you can't post, comment or sell until it is restored." This means there is no end date.

The notice ends with a link: Write to help@sikhami.com if you think this is a mistake.

What you cannot do while suspended

  • Make posts, clips or stories.
  • Write comments or reviews.
  • Send messages, including in clubs and meetups.
  • Go live or start a study room.
  • Create clubs, meetups, notes, quizzes, courses, institutes, teacher profiles or ads.
  • Sell anything.

Where you would normally make something, you see the same notice instead. The Create menu shows the notice in place of its options, the comment and message boxes are replaced by it, and pages for making something say Not available right now with a Back to home link.

What you can still do

  • Read posts, watch clips and open courses and pages.
  • Report content that breaks the rules.
  • Change your settings, or delete your account.

When the suspension ends

A suspension with an end date is lifted on its own. After the date has passed, the notice says your suspension ended and that posting, commenting and selling come back as soon as your account is restored, usually within a day.

If your account is banned

  • While you are still logged in, the notice says "Your account is banned. You can still read, but you can't post, comment or sell.", with the reason if one was given.
  • A banned account can be signed out and stopped from logging in. The login screen then says "This account has been disabled. Write to help@sikhami.com if you think this is a mistake."

If an account has been closed, the notice says "This account has been closed."

If your content was removed

Content that breaks the guidelines can be hidden or removed by Sikhami's team. It then no longer shows to other people.

You cannot bring back content that Sikhami's team has hidden or removed. If you think it was a mistake, write to help@sikhami.com and include a link to the content or describe it.

Maintenance notices

Sometimes a notice at the top of every page says "Sikhami is under maintenance until (time)." or "Sikhami is under maintenance." with a short message such as "Some things may not work for a while."

This notice is about the whole website, not your account. It goes away when the work is finished. You do not need to do anything.

Ask for a review or get help

The Community Guidelines say that users can be told why content was removed or an account was limited, and can ask Sikhami to look again at a decision they think is wrong. To do that:

  1. Write to help@sikhami.com, if possible from the email address on your account.
  2. Give your username, for example @your.name.
  3. Copy the exact words of the notice you see, including the reason and the date.
  4. Explain briefly why you think the decision is wrong.
