Institute team and roles
Add staff to your institute as Admin, Teacher or Accountant, see exactly what each role can do, and learn how co-teachers can get a share of course sales.
Updated 22 October 2026
You do not have to run your institute alone. Under the Team tab you can add other Sikhami accounts as staff and give each one a role: Admin, Teacher or Accountant. The role decides what they can see and change.
Only the owner of the institute, the account that created it, can add or remove staff. Staff cannot change the institute's details, and they never see its Earnings or the owner's bank details.
The three roles
| Role | Made for |
|---|---|
| Admin | Someone who runs the institute with you: batches, students, attendance and fees. |
| Teacher | Someone who teaches batches and takes attendance for the batches they are assigned to. |
| Accountant | Someone who keeps the fee book and issues receipts. |
What each role can do on the website

Add someone to your team
The person needs a Sikhami account with a username. Ask them for it first.
- Open your institute from My institutes in the Learning studio.
- Go to the Team tab.
- Under Add someone to your team, type Their Sikhami username (with or without the @).
- Choose a role: Admin, Teacher or Accountant.
- Click Add to team. You see a message that they can now help run the institute.
- They are added straight away. There is no request for them to accept.
- To change someone's role, add the same username again with the new role.
- You cannot add yourself; you already run the institute as its owner.
- If the username is wrong, you see No Sikhami account is called followed by the username.
Remove someone from your team
- In the Team tab, find the person.
- Click the delete button (Remove) on their row.
- Confirm with Remove. They lose access to batches, attendance and fees at once.
Attendance they took and payments they recorded stay in your records.
What your staff see
When you add someone, the institute appears in their Learning studio under My institutes, marked You're on the team. When they open it, a line says You are on this institute's team as and their role.
- Every role sees Dashboard, the batches tab and Team (read only).
- Admins and teachers see the batches tab as Batches & attendance; accountants see it as Batches.
- Admins and accountants also see Fees, and the money figures on the dashboard.
- Staff do not see Details, Courses, Online students or Earnings.
To let a teacher take attendance, open the batch with Edit and choose them under Teachers for this batch. Only team members with the Teacher or Admin role are offered there. See Batches, timetable and attendance.
Team roles and teacher profiles are different
Sikhami has two ways to work with teachers. They do not depend on each other.
| Team role (this page) | Course teacher (teacher profile) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | Running the institute: batches, attendance, fees | Teaching an online course and appearing as its teacher |
| How they join | The owner adds their Sikhami username under Team | The course owner sends a course request from the course's Teachers tab; the teacher accepts it |
| What they need | A Sikhami account | A published teacher profile |
| What they can do | What their role allows (table above) | Work on the course curriculum, analytics and announcements |
| Share of money | None | An optional share of each online sale of that course |
Learn how course teachers work in Your teacher profile.
Sharing course sales with teachers
Team roles do not come with any share of money. Pay your staff in the way you agree with them.
For online courses, there is a separate option. When a teacher has accepted a request to teach one of your courses, open that course, go to its Teachers tab and type a number in the % share box next to their name. That teacher then gets that percentage of your earnings from each online sale of the course, paid into their own payout account. All teachers of one course together can get at most 90 percent. See Earnings and payouts.
