Your teacher profile

Create your public teacher page, fill in the details needed to publish it, accept course requests from institutes, and co-teach their courses with an optional share of sales.

Updated 22 October 2026

A teacher profile is your public page as an educator. It shows who you are, what you teach and the courses you teach. Learners can follow, like, save and review it, and ask you questions on it.

Each Sikhami account can have one teacher profile. Once it is published, institutes can invite you to teach their courses. Your teacher profile is separate from your normal profile, and you do not need an institute to have one.

Create your teacher profile

  1. Open the Learning studio and go to the My teacher profile tab.
  2. Click New teacher profile (or Create your teacher profile).
  3. Check Your name, as it should appear on the page (at least 3 characters). It starts as your account name.
  4. Under What do you teach?, choose up to 10 topics: subjects, exams, skills, instruments, dance forms or trades. This is optional.
  5. Click Create teacher profile. The Manage teacher profile page opens.

If you already have a teacher profile, the page says You already have a teacher profile. Click Open your teacher profile to manage it.

Fill in your details

The Edit tab has these parts. Each field saves with its own Save button.

  • Photo: your Profile photo (JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB).
  • Basics: Name; Username (see below); Short intro, one line of up to 150 characters, such as "Physics teacher, 12 years with JEE aspirants"; About, your experience, subjects, style and results (up to 2,000 characters); and Category, a lowercase word such as "mathematics". Pick a suggested category or type a new one.
  • Contact: Email, and your phone with its country Code. Each is saved only after you type the code Sikhami sends to it.
  • Links: Website, YouTube and Facebook.
  • Discovery (optional): What do you teach?, Skill level, Age group, How it is taught, When, Languages (up to 10), Teaches (the classes or stages you teach), Experience in years, and State (where you mostly teach; skip it if you teach online across India). None of these is needed to publish.

Username rules

  • At least 6 characters.
  • Lowercase letters, numbers, dots and underscores only. No spaces.
  • It must not be taken by any learner, teacher or institute on Sikhami.
  • Institutes invite you by this username, so share it with them.

Your email is shown on your public teacher page, with a mail link, so learners and institutes can reach you. Your phone number is not shown.

Publish your teacher profile

The Finish teacher profile box lists what is missing. To publish, you need: Profile photo, Name, Username, Short intro, Email, and Phone with country code.

  1. Fill in everything on the list.
  2. Click Publish at the top of the page.
  3. You see Published. Institutes can now invite you.

To hide the page again, click Unpublish. While it is unpublished, institutes cannot find you to send course requests, and you are not in the Teachers list. View page opens your page as others see it.

Course requests: teaching an institute's course

An institute links you to a course by sending a course request. Here is how it works on both sides.

If you own the course

  1. Open the course and go to the Teachers tab.
  2. Under Invite a teacher, type the teacher's username in Teacher username and click Find. Only teachers with a published teacher profile can be found.
  3. Check the name and photo, then click Send request. The teacher gets a notification.

The tab also shows Linked teachers, with a Remove button for each, and Pending requests, with a Cancel button for each.

If you are the teacher

  1. Open your teacher profile from the Learning studio and go to the Course requests tab.
  2. Each request shows the course and the institute. Click their names to look at them first.
  3. Click Accept to join the course, or Decline.

After you accept, the course appears in the My courses tab of your teacher profile and on your public teacher page under Courses.

What a co-teacher can do

When you accept a request, you become a co-teacher of that course. The course appears in My courses in your Learning studio, marked You co-teach. When you open it, the page says You co-teach this course. Pricing, publishing and orders stay with its owner.

To stop teaching a course, ask its owner to remove you from the Teachers tab.

Sharing course sales with a co-teacher

The owner of a course can give a co-teacher a share of each online sale of that course. In the Teachers tab, a box marked % share appears next to each linked teacher. Type a whole number and click outside the box to save it.

  • The share is a percentage of the owner's earnings from each sale, after Sikhami's fee.
  • All teachers of a course together can get at most 90 percent, so the owner always keeps some.
  • The co-teacher's share is paid to their own payout account, like any seller's earnings. See Earnings and payouts.
  • Clear the box (or type 0) to remove the share.

Your public teacher page

Your page shows your photo and name, verified tick or a Not verified tag, username, followers, the number of courses and institutes, your category and when you joined. Below that are your discovery details and topics, your About text (or your short intro), your email and links, then your Courses, reviews and questions. Learners can Follow, like, save, share and report it.

Learners find published teachers on the Teachers page. See Teachers and institutes.

Questions

Can I have two teacher profiles?

No. Sikhami keeps one teacher profile per account.

Is the Teacher role in an institute's team the same as a teacher profile?

No. A teacher profile is your public page and links you to courses. The Teacher role in an institute's Team lets you take attendance for batches. You can have both. See Institute team and roles.

Why can't an institute find me?

They must type your exact username, and your teacher profile must be published.

Is my phone number shown on my teacher page?

No. Only your email is shown. Your phone number is needed to publish but stays private.

How do I delete my teacher profile?

In the Edit tab, scroll to Danger zone, click Delete teacher profile and confirm with Yes, delete this profile. Your teacher page is removed for everyone. You can create a new one later.

Do I need an institute to have a teacher profile?

No. But to make your own courses you need an institute, because every course belongs to one.
