Meetups
How to find meetups near you or online, join a free or paid meetup, open the meeting link or get directions, use the meetup chat, and cancel your place.
Updated 22 October 2026
A meetup is a study event on Sikhami with a date and a time. It can be online, with a meeting link, or in person at a real place. Members host meetups, and other members join them.
Some meetups are free. Others charge a one-time fee for a seat. This article is for people who attend. To host your own meetup, see Create a meetup.
Find meetups
On a computer, click More at the bottom of the left menu and choose Meetups. On a phone, tap Explore at the bottom, then Meetups. You can also find meetups with Search.
At the top of the Meetups page, Meetups around you shows a map with pins for in-person meetups. Tap a pin to open that meetup. The map uses the location you set on Sikhami: tap Set location (or Change) to choose it. See Your location.
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | Meetups that have not started yet |
| Nearby | Upcoming meetups, closest to you first. Shows only after you set your location. |
| Popular | The most popular meetups |
| Newest | Meetups created most recently |
| My meetups | Meetups you created, published or not |
Under the tabs, choose Any price, Free or Paid to filter the list.
Each meetup card shows the date, Online or In person, the price for a paid meetup (for example "₹99 to join"), the name, the date and time, the category, how many people are going, and, for an in-person meetup, how far away it is once your location is set.
The meetup page
- The cover picture, the name, the category, and tags such as level, language, format, exams and subjects.
- A box with the date and time (or "Date to be announced"), how long it lasts, where it is (the address, or "Online meetup"), how many people are going, and the price for a paid meetup.
- Tap going in that box to see the list of people who are going.
- For an in-person meetup with a place: a map, a Directions button, and the distance from your location.
- The description, and Hosted by with the host's name.
- A row of buttons: Join (or Going), Chat once you have joined, a heart to like it, a bookmark to save it, Share, and a flag to Report it.
Join a meetup
Free meetup
- Open the meetup page.
- Tap Join.
- The button changes to Going. A Chat button appears, and for an online meetup, Open meeting link appears.
Paid meetup
- Open the meetup page and tap Join for ₹… (the button with a lock). It says "One-time fee, paid on sikhami.com."
- The Checkout page shows the meetup, the Joining fee and the Total.
- Tap Pay with the price and complete the payment. Payments are made through Razorpay.
- The page says You are in ("A seat at this meetup and its chat."). You are marked as going. Tap Open the meetup.
You pay once. Your seat and the meetup chat do not run out. For payment help, see How to pay.
Online and in-person meetups
Online
The host adds a meeting link. Once you are going, Open meeting link shows on the meetup page. Tap it at the meetup time; it opens in a new tab. Only people who are going and the host can see this button.
In person
The address is in the box at the top of the meetup page. Tap Directions to open the route in Google Maps.
The public page of a meetup, for people who are not logged in, does not show the address or the meeting link. If someone sends you a meetup invite link, it opens a page that says "You have been invited to a meetup", with View this meetup on the web.
The meetup chat
Everyone who is going and the host share one group chat. Tap Chat on the meetup page, or open Messages and tap the Meetups tab. See Club and meetup chats.
Changes by the host
- If the host changes the date, the time or how long the meetup lasts, you get a Meetup Rescheduled notification.
- If the host takes the meetup down (unpublishes it), you get a Meetup Cancelled notification.
- If the host removes you, the meetup page says "The host removed you from this meetup". Tap Request to rejoin to ask to come back. While you wait, it says "Your request to rejoin is waiting for the host.", and you can tap Cancel request.
- If the host has blocked you from rejoining, the page says "You can't join this meetup".
Cancel your place
- Open the meetup page.
- Tap Going.
- Sikhami asks "Leave this meetup?". Tap Leave.
You leave the meetup chat, and you no longer see the meeting link. If you paid and leave, you can join the same meetup again later without paying again. Leaving does not refund you by itself; see Refunds.
Questions
Where is the meeting link?
It shows as Open meeting link on the meetup page, but only after you join. If you have joined and still do not see it, the host has not added a link yet. Ask them in the meetup chat.
Why is the Nearby tab missing?
Nearby shows only after you set your location. Tap Set location at the top of the Meetups page.
I paid, but the page still shows Join. What do I do?
Tap Join. You will not be asked to pay again, because your payment is already recorded.
Can I see who else is going?
Yes. Tap the number of people going on the meetup page.
Can I host my own meetup?
Yes. Tap New meetup on the Meetups page, or choose Meetup in the Create menu. See Create a meetup.
