Edit your profile

Change your photo, name, username, bio, interests, school, college, place, links and the learning details on your profile, and see where each one shows and who can see it.

Updated 22 October 2026

Your profile tells other learners who you are and what you are learning. Everything on it is changed on one page: Edit profile.

Only your name and username are required. Every other field is optional, and you can leave it empty.

Open Edit profile

  • On your profile, choose Edit profile.
  • Or open the Settings page and choose Edit profile ("Name, username, bio, links, photo").

Make your changes, then choose Save at the top right. Sikhami shows "Profile saved" and takes you back to your profile. Changes are not saved until you choose Save. The photo is the only exception: it is saved as soon as it uploads.

Profile photo

  1. Choose the camera button on your photo.
  2. Pick an image from your computer or phone. It can be up to 10 MB. The page suggests JPG or PNG.
  3. Wait for "Uploading photo…" to finish. Sikhami shows "Profile photo updated".

Your photo shows on your profile and next to your name on your posts, comments, messages and in search. The website has no button to remove a photo, but you can replace it with another one.

Name, username and bio

FieldRulesWhere it shows
Full name6 to 60 charactersIn large letters at the top of your profile, and next to everything you post or send

If something is wrong, the page shows a message under the field, such as "Name must be at least 6 characters." or "That username is already taken."

Interests and learning

  • Interests: up to 30 tags in your own words, such as physics or chess. They show as tags on your profile.
  • What do you want to learn? (in the Learning part): up to 10 topics from Sikhami's list. They shape the courses Sikhami recommends to you.
  • Your main goal: why you are learning right now, such as Crack an exam or A hobby, for fun.

For step-by-step help, see Your interests and learning topics.

Connect

  • Open to connect: a switch. When it is on, you appear when someone uses the Open to connect filter in People search.
  • Open to: up to 10 things you are open to, such as Group study, Study partner, Looking for a mentor, Can mentor, Doubt solving, Mock interviews, Internships, Hackathons or Language exchange.

The two work together. Picking anything under Open to turns Open to connect on. Turning Open to connect off clears your Open to list. Your Open to tags show on your profile only while Open to connect is on.

You can add four links: Website, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. Type the full address, starting with https://. Each one shows in the intro list on your profile and opens in a new tab.

Who can see your profile details

  • Anyone logged in to Sikhami can open your profile and see your photo, name, username, bio, school, college, place, links, joining month and tags. This is true even if your account is private. A private account hides your posts, clips and highlights, not these details. See Private account and follow requests.
  • If your account is public, Sikhami also makes a public profile page at sikhami.com/profile/ followed by your username. Anyone can open it without logging in, and search engines can show it. It shows your name, username, photo, bio, class or stage, college, languages, exam, subject and interest tags, links that start with https://, your counts and your joining month, and the notes, clubs and meetups you made. It does not show your school, location, state, gender or posts.
  • Sikhami does not make that public page if your account is private, if it is a guest account, if your account is suspended, if your class or stage is a school class, or if the date of birth on your account shows you are under 18.

Questions

Why can I not save my profile?

Look for a red message under a field. Most often the name is shorter than 6 characters, or the username has a space, a capital letter or a symbol, or is already taken.

How do I remove my profile photo?

The website has no remove button. You can replace the photo with another picture.

How do I hide my school or college?

Delete the text in that field and choose Save. Empty fields do not show on your profile.

How do I change my email or phone number?

Not on the website. The Settings page says this is still done in the Android app.

Who can see my gender?

It is not shown on your profile. People search can filter by it, and advertisers can use it to choose who sees their ads. Choose Prefer not to say if you do not want to give it.

Where do I make my account private?

On the Settings page, with the Private account switch. See Private account and follow requests.
