Upload a clip
How to post a clip from the website: choosing a video, the 100 MB limit, filters, the description, category, language and topics, members-only clips, and what happens after you publish.
Updated 22 October 2026
A clip is a short vertical video, like a reel. You can upload a clip from the website in a few steps: pick a video, choose a filter, write a description, pick a category and publish.
After you publish, Sikhami prepares the video on its servers. This article explains each step, the limits, and where your clip appears.
Before you start
- The file must be a video, and it must be under 100 MB.
- A vertical video (taller than it is wide) works best, because clips play in a tall frame.
- The website does not cut or trim your video. Cut it to the length you want before you upload it.
- You cannot add music to a clip on the website. The sound in your video is the sound people hear.
- If your account is suspended, you cannot post clips until the suspension ends. See Account suspension and moderation.
Open the upload page
Use any of these:
- On a computer, click the Create button in the menu on the left, then Clip.
- On a phone, tap Create (the + tab at the bottom), then Clip.
- On your own profile, open the Clips tab and tap Upload clip.
The page is called Upload clip.
Upload your clip step by step
- Tap Choose a video and pick a video file. If the file is not a video, you see Please choose a video file. If it is too big, you see Video must be under 100 MB.
- Your video plays in a preview. To pick a different video, tap the cross in its top-right corner (Remove video).
- Under Filter, tap a filter to change the colours of the video. The preview shows the result straight away. Normal means no filter.
- If you sell a membership, choose who can watch: Everyone or Members only. You see this choice only if you sell a membership.
- Write a description in the box Describe your clip. #hashtags help people find it. You can write up to 1,000 characters. Words that start with # become hashtags.
- Choose a Category. This is required.
- Check the Language. This is the language spoken in the clip. It is optional.
- Add up to 3 Topics if you want, for example guitar, Kathak, JEE or wiring. This is optional.
- Tap Publish at the top of the page.
- Wait while the bar shows Uploading… and a percentage. Keep the page open until the upload finishes.
- You see Clip uploaded. It will appear once processing finishes. and the website takes you to your profile.
If you tap Publish without a category, you see Please select a clip category. Choose one and tap Publish again.
The website remembers the last language you picked on this device and fills it in next time. If you have not picked one before, it starts with the first language on your profile.
Filters and categories
Filters
There are 24 choices: Normal, Clarendon, Gingham, Moon, Lark, Reyes, Juno, Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden, Perpetua, Valencia, X-Pro II, Sierra, Willow, Lo-Fi, Inkwell, Nashville, Vintage, Cinema, Warm, Cool and Dramatic. Each filter tile shows a frame of your own video, so you can compare them. The filter is added to the video by Sikhami's servers after upload. What you see in the preview is what people will see.
Categories
Every clip goes in one of these 10 categories. People can filter clips by category in Search.
- Education and Learning
- Business and Finance
- Life and Self Improvement
- Health and Wellness
- Science and Technology
- Communication and Public Speaking
- Career and Professional Growth
- Travel and Culture
- Motivation and Inspiration
- Creativity and Innovation
Members-only clips
If you sell a membership, you can choose Members only before you publish. When you pick it, the page explains: only your paying members will be able to watch this; everyone else sees a locked card with no video, no thumbnail and no caption, even from a shared link.
- A members-only clip appears only in the Members only tab of your profile. It is never in the Clips tab, on Explore or in search.
- Its description and hashtags are not public.
- You cannot change a clip from Everyone to Members only, or back, after you publish it.
To start selling a membership, see Memberships.
Processing and where your clip appears
After upload, Sikhami's servers compress your video and add your filter. While this happens, your clip tile on your profile may show Processing. If something goes wrong, the tile shows Processing failed.
| Place | Does your clip appear there? |
|---|---|
| Your profile, Clips tab | Yes, for every clip that is not members-only. |
| Your profile, Members only tab | Yes, for members-only clips. |
| The Clips tab of other people | Yes, if your account is public and the clip is not members-only. |
| Trending posts on Explore | Only if it is among the most popular clips from public accounts. |
| Clips tab in Search | Yes, after processing finishes, if your account is public and the clip is not members-only. |
If your account is private, your clips are not shown in the Clips tab, on Explore or in search. See Private account and follow requests.
After you publish
Open your clip and tap ⋯ on its right side. You can:
- Edit details: change the category, the description, the language and the topics, then tap Save.
- View insights: see views and other numbers. See Post insights and views.
- Archive: take the clip off your profile without deleting it. Find it later under Archive in the settings menu.
- Delete clip: remove it from Sikhami for everyone.
You cannot change the video, the filter or the Everyone / Members only choice after you publish. To change these, delete the clip and upload it again.
Questions
How long can my clip be?
The website checks the file size, not the length. The video must be under 100 MB. It does not trim the video for you.
Why can't I see the Members only option?
It appears only for creators who sell a membership. See Memberships.
Can I change the filter after I publish?
No. The filter is added to the video when it is processed. Delete the clip and upload it again with a different filter.
Why is my new clip not in search yet?
Search shows a clip only after processing finishes. It also leaves out clips from private accounts and members-only clips.
My clip tile says Processing failed. What can I do?
Open the clip, tap ⋯, choose Delete clip, and upload the video again.
Do hashtags in my description do anything?
Yes. Words that start with # are saved as the clip's hashtags, which help people find it. See Tags and hashtags.
