Archive and delete your posts

What the ⋯ menu on your own posts can do: hide a post with Archive and bring it back later, delete it for good, copy its link and see its insights. Also explains that posts cannot be edited.

Updated 22 October 2026

Every post has a ⋯ button (three dots) at the end of the line with the author's name. On your own posts, it lets you archive the post, delete it, copy its link and see its insights.

Archive takes a post off your profile and out of the feeds but keeps it for you, so you can bring it back later. Delete removes it for good.

Archive a post

  1. Click the ⋯ on your post.
  2. Choose Archive.
  3. You see "Post archived. Find it under Archive in Settings."

An archived post:

  • Leaves your profile, Home, the Polls page and hashtag pages.
  • Is no longer counted in the number of posts on your profile.
  • Keeps its likes and comments. They come back with it when you unarchive it.
  • Is not listed anywhere for other people. You find it on your Archive page.

Find archived posts and bring them back

  1. Open More in the menu on the left (on a phone, tap the ⋯ on your own profile) and choose Archive. You can also open Settings & privacy and choose Archive.
  2. The Archive page has five tabs: Posts, Clips, Polls, Voice and Stories. Pick the tab for the kind of post.
  3. To bring a post, poll or voice post back, click its ⋯ and choose Unarchive. You see "Post restored to your profile".
  4. To bring a clip back, click Unarchive on the clip.
  • The Posts tab shows up to 30 archived posts. The Polls, Voice and Clips tabs show up to 20 each, the newest first.
  • Stories are not archived by hand. Every story you post is kept on the Stories tab after its 24 hours are over. See Story highlights and archive.
  • Posts you made inside a club are not listed on the Archive page.

Delete a post

  1. Click the ⋯ on your post.
  2. Choose Delete post.
  3. Sikhami asks "Delete this post?" and warns "This cannot be undone." Click Delete.
  4. You see "Post deleted".
  • A deleted post is removed for good. It cannot be brought back.
  • Its link stops working. People who open it see "This post is not available".
  • Reposts of it by other people show "The original post is no longer available."
  • Polls and voice posts are deleted the same way. The menu item is called Delete post for them too.
  • You can delete only your own posts. To ask for someone else's post to be removed, use Report post.

Not sure? Archive the post instead. You can always delete it later from the Archive page.

Editing a post

You cannot edit a post after you publish it. The website has no way to change a post's words, photos, video, topics or poll answers. To fix a mistake, delete the post and make a new one. See Create a post.

Clips are different: you can change a clip's description and category. See Upload a clip.

Hide a post from your own view

On someone else's post, Hide takes the post out of the list you are looking at. It does not delete the post and does not tell its owner. To stop seeing all posts from someone, use Block.
