Story highlights and archive
Keep your stories after 24 hours. Your story archive saves every story you post, only for you, and highlights show chosen stories on your profile.
Updated 22 October 2026
A story leaves the story bar after 24 hours, but it is not lost. Sikhami keeps every story you post in your story archive, which only you can see.
A highlight is a named group of your stories, shown as a round cover on your profile. Highlights stay on your profile until you delete them, so people can watch those stories at any time.
Open your story archive
- Open the settings menu: More at the bottom of the menu on the left (on a computer), or ⋯ on your own profile, which opens Settings and activity.
- Tap Archive.
- Tap the Stories tab.
The page says: Only you can see this. Every story you post is kept here once it expires, ready to put on a highlight.
- Your stories show in a grid, newest first. Each tile shows how long ago you posted it.
- A video story has a small play mark in the corner.
- Tap Load older at the bottom to see older stories.
- Tap a tile to open it in a window titled Your story. You can play it and tap Add to highlight.
The archive window has no delete button. You can delete a story while it is still in your story bar, or when you open it from a highlight. See Stories.
Add a story to a highlight
You can do this from two places:
- While your story is live: open your story and tap Add to highlight (the bookmark with a plus) at the top.
- From the archive: open Archive, then Stories, tap a story and tap Add to highlight.
A window titled Add to highlight opens.
- To add the story to a highlight you already have, tap its name in the list.
- To start a new one, type a name under New highlight (up to 40 characters) and tap Create.
A new highlight uses the picture of the story you started it with as its cover. A video story you uploaded has no cover picture, so the cover may show a plain circle.
You can add the same story to more than one highlight.
Where highlights appear
- Highlights sit on your profile, below your profile details and above the tabs (Posts, Clips and the others).
- Each highlight shows its cover and its name. The most recently changed highlight comes first.
- Tap a highlight to play its stories in the story viewer. It works like a normal story: tap to move, press and hold to pause.
- When other people watch your highlight, they can react and reply as they do on a live story, and they appear in that story's viewers. See Story insights.
A profile shows up to 20 highlights. A highlight whose stories have all been deleted is not shown.
Delete a highlight
- Go to your profile.
- Tap the small cross on the top right of the highlight cover.
- Confirm with Delete.
The message says The stories in it are not deleted. They stay in your archive and in any other highlight.
What you cannot do on the website
- You cannot rename a highlight or change its cover.
- You cannot take one story out of a highlight. To remove it everywhere, delete the story itself. A deleted story leaves every highlight at once.
- You cannot delete a story from the archive window.
Who can see your archive and highlights
| Item | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Story archive | Only you. |
| Highlights | People who can see your profile's posts. If your account is private, people who cannot see your posts do not see your highlights. |
| Highlights of a blocked account | Not shown. Blocking hides each other's profile content. |
