How to pay on Sikhami

Buy a video course, notes, a club or meetup seat, a study room, a membership or a course bundle: on the website through Razorpay, or inside the Android app through Google Play. See what unlocks after you pay and what to do if a payment fails.

Many things on Sikhami are free. Some have a price set by the person or institute that made them. You pay Sikhami, and Sikhami passes the seller their share.

On the website you pay through Razorpay, a payment gateway. Inside the Android app you pay through Google Play. The price is the same in both places, and what you buy in one place is unlocked in the other too.

Pay on the website

  1. Open the item. A paid item has a button with its price, such as Join for ₹100, Buy for ₹49 or Enter for ₹50. If there are several periods, it shows the lowest price, such as Join from ₹100. A video course has a Buy now button with the price.
  2. The Checkout page opens. Check the item, its picture and the seller's name.
  3. If the item is sold for different periods, choose one under How long (for a course, How long you get it for). Each period shows its own price.
  4. For a video course, if the institute gave you a coupon, type it in Coupon code and press Apply. The new price is shown before you pay.
  5. Press Pay with the amount (for a course, Pay ₹… securely).
  6. The Razorpay window opens with your name, email and phone number filled in. Choose how to pay, for example UPI, a card or net banking, and finish the payment there.
  7. When the payment goes through, the page says You are in (for a course, Payment received) and takes you to the item.

The checkout says the payment is collected by Sikhami on behalf of the seller. Sikhami keeps a fee and pays the rest to the seller. You never pay the seller twice.

Pay inside the Android app

  • In the Android app, the purchase goes through Google Play. The app opens Google Play's payment sheet, and you pay there.
  • The price is the same as on the website. Prices on Sikhami come in fixed steps so that Google Play can charge them.
  • Items priced above ₹50,000 cannot be bought in the app. Buy them on the website instead.
  • A seat at a meetup held in person is always paid for on the website. If you start in the app, it opens the website checkout in your browser.
  • If the app closes before a purchase finishes, open the app again. It looks for unfinished purchases every time it starts.

What happens after you pay

ItemAfter payment
Video courseThe lectures unlock at once and the course opens. It is in My learning, and a Confirmed order appears in My orders.
Course bundleEach course in the bundle unlocks, and you are taken to My learning.
NotesYou can download the PDF. The order is listed in My orders, under Study materials.
Club or meetupSikhami adds you to the club or meetup, then takes you back to it.
Study roomYou can enter the room while it is running.
MembershipYou can see what the creator shares only with members, until your period ends.

Every payment gets an invoice. Find it in My orders, on the Payments tab. See Invoices and receipts.

Privacy: the seller gets a notification about your purchase. Your name is on their sales list, and they can open the invoice, which shows the name, email and phone number from your account.

Periods and renewing

  • A period starts on the day you pay and is counted in calendar months.
  • Nothing renews by itself, and you are never charged again automatically.
  • When your period ends, you lose access. The item then offers Renew, and the checkout says your access has ended and asks you to pick a period to carry on.
  • Notes, meetups and study rooms are paid once. What you buy stays yours.

If a payment fails

  • If a payment fails inside the Razorpay window, you can try again in the same window.
  • If you close the window, you see a message such as "Payment cancelled." Nothing is unlocked, no invoice is made, and the attempt is not listed in My orders. Press Pay again when you are ready.
  • Sikhami also receives each payment confirmation directly from Razorpay. So if your payment went through but your browser closed or lost its connection, the item is still unlocked. Open the item again to check.
  • If money left your account and the item is still locked, write to help@sikhami.com with the date, the amount and the item.
