Publish a course

What a course needs before it can go live, how to publish and unpublish it, what happens when your institute is unpublished, and how to edit or delete a course after publishing.

Updated 22 October 2026

A new course is a draft. While it is a draft, it does not appear in the course lists, and students cannot buy it or apply for it. Publishing makes it live.

Before you can publish, the course must have every detail on its Finish course info list, and its institute must be published.

The Finish course info list

On the Manage course page, the Finish course info box shows how many items are done (for example "5 of 8 done") and lists the ones still missing. Click an item to jump to the place where you fill it in. When nothing is missing, the box goes away.

A video course needs

  • Course picture
  • Course name
  • Description
  • Course contents
  • Topics (under What does this course teach?)
  • Language
  • Fee (0 for a free course): set your prices, or for a free course open Set prices, leave every box blank and click Save
  • At least one lecture in the Curriculum tab

A face-to-face (classroom) course needs

  • Course picture, Course name, Description, Course contents, Topics and Language
  • Total fee (0 for a free course)
  • Seats: total and available both above zero, and available not more than total
  • At least one class day
  • Class timings: start and end time
  • Start and end dates
  • Study material (included or not)

There is one more rule that is not on the list: the course's institute must be published. If it is not, the page shows Publish the institute first. A course can only go live under a published institute. See Create an institute.

Publish a course

  1. Open the Learning studio, go to My courses and click the course.
  2. Make sure the Finish course info box is gone and your institute is published.
  3. Click Publish at the top of the page.
  4. You see Published. Students can now apply. The tag changes from Draft to Published.

If something is still missing, the button does not publish. A message starts with Finish the course before publishing. Missing: and names what to fill in.

There is no waiting for approval: the course goes live as soon as you click Publish. Courses that Sikhami has not checked show a Not verified tag to students. See Verified badge.

After publishing

  • Your course appears in the course lists, such as the Popular and Newest tabs of the Courses page. A face-to-face course also appears under Face to face.
  • Click View page on the Manage course page to see it as students do.
  • You can keep editing. Every change shows to students as soon as you save it.
  • If you empty a required field later, the course stays published, but the Finish course info box comes back and says the page is live with details missing. Fill them in so students see a complete page.
  • Share the course from its page so people can find it.

Unpublish a course

  1. Open the course's Manage course page.
  2. Click Unpublish.
  3. Confirm with Unpublish. The course goes back to Draft.

New students will no longer see the course or be able to apply or buy it. You can publish it again at any time.

When your institute is unpublished

If you unpublish your institute, every course under it is unpublished too. You are warned first: Every course under it goes offline too.

When you publish the institute again, its courses stay unpublished. Open each course and click Publish again.

Delete a course

  1. On the Manage course page, open the Edit tab.
  2. Scroll to Danger zone and click Delete course.
  3. Click Yes, delete this course.

Deleting removes the course for everyone, together with its uploaded lecture videos. Applications and orders already made stay in students' order history. You cannot undo a delete. If you only want to hide the course for a while, unpublish it instead.

Questions

Why can't I publish my course?

Either something is still on the Finish course info list, or the institute is not published. Click Publish and read the message; it names what is missing.

Does Sikhami review my course before it goes live?

No. It goes live as soon as you publish. Until Sikhami checks it, students see a Not verified tag.

Can I edit a course after it is published?

Yes. Changes show as soon as you save them. You do not need to unpublish first.

Can a co-teacher publish the course?

No. Pricing, publishing and orders stay with the course's owner. Co-teachers work on the curriculum, analytics and announcements.

I unpublished my institute and published it again. Why are my courses still drafts?

Unpublishing an institute unpublishes all its courses, and publishing it again does not bring them back. Publish each course again.

My course is published but I cannot find it in the list.

Check that the tag on the Manage course page says Published. Lists show the most popular or newest courses first, so search for the course name too. See Search.
