Post insights and views
What the view count under a post means, how to open the insights for one of your posts, what each number shows, and who can see them.
Updated 22 October 2026
Every post on Sikhami shows how many people have seen it. For your own posts you can also open Post insights: a page of numbers about who saw the post, where they found it, and what they did with it.
Insights show numbers only. Nobody, not even you, can see the names of the people who viewed a post.
The view count under a post
Under the buttons of a post you may see a line such as "1.2K views". This is the number of accounts that have seen the post.
- A view is counted when at least half of the post has been on someone's screen, on Home, a profile, a hashtag page, a shared link or anywhere else.
- Each account counts once in this number, however many times it sees the post.
- Your own views of your own post are never counted.
- Everyone who can see the post can see this number. When it is 0, the line is not shown.
- The like count sits beside the heart and the comment count beside the speech bubble.
Open the insights for your post
- Find your post, for example on your profile.
- Click View insights under the post, or open the post's ⋯ menu and choose View insights.
- The Post insights window opens. Scroll down to see all of it.
You can open insights only for your own posts. Reposts do not have the View insights link under them.
What the insights show
At the top you see the date you posted and five totals with small icons: likes, comments, shares, saves and reposts. Below that:
| Part | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Overview | Views, Accounts reached, Accounts engaged and Profile activity in one place |
| Views | How the views split between your Followers and Non-followers, how many accounts were reached in each group, and a chart of views by day once there are two days or more |
| Where they saw it | The share of accounts that first saw the post on Home feed, Profile, Explore, Search, Hashtags, Shared links or Other |
| Watch time (video posts) | Total and average watch time, how many watched to the end, and Replays |
| Listening (voice posts) | Total listening time, Average listening time and Listened to the end |
| Engagement | How many of the accounts reached liked, commented on, saved, shared or reposted the post, split into followers and non-followers |
| Interactions | The number of Likes, Comments, Shares, Saves and Reposts |
| Profile activity | Profile visits (people who opened your profile from this post) and Follows |
Views and accounts reached
- Accounts reached is the number of different accounts that saw the post. It is the same idea as the view count under the post.
- Views in the insights counts the times the post was seen, so one person can add more than one view.
- Accounts engaged is the number of accounts that did something with the post: liked, commented, saved, shared or reposted it.
- Shares counts sharing from the Share window: sending to a chat, WhatsApp, Copy link or More.
Views, reach and watch time are counted from 24 September 2026. For a post made before that day, the window says so, and only likes and comments include everything from before.
Who can see your insights
- Only you can open the insights of your posts.
- The insights never show names: not who viewed, not who saved, not who shared.
- Other people see only the counts shown on the post itself: likes, comments, reposts and views.
All your posts together
To see how all your posts, clips and your profile are doing over time, open More and choose Insights. See Your insights dashboard. Stories have their own numbers: see Story insights.
Questions
Can I see who viewed my post?
No. Sikhami shows how many people saw your post, never who.
Why are Views and Accounts reached different?
Accounts reached counts each person once. Views counts the times the post was seen, so a person who comes back to it later can add another view.
Why did my own view not count?
Your own views of your own posts are never counted.
Why do I see no insights for my old post?
Views, reach and watch time are counted from 24 September 2026. A post made before that has views only from that day on.
Can other people see my post insights?
No. Only you can open them. Others see only the counts on the post.
Why does the window say it could not load?
If you see "Could not load insights. Try again in a moment.", close the window and open it again a little later.
