Notes on Sikhami are a PDF that people open from its own page: your own notes, a book or a question paper. You can share notes for free or set a price. Paid notes are locked, so only you and the people who bought them can open the file.
This article is for people who upload notes. To find and read notes, see Notes.
Where to find it
- Open Create and choose Notes.
- Open More, then Creator studio, and select the Notes tile. On a phone, open your profile and select ⋯ to reach the same menu.
- Go straight to New notes.
Your notes are listed in the Creator studio under My notes, with whether each one is Published or a Draft, how many downloads it has, and whether its file is still being prepared. Select one to open its manage page. On your notes' own page you also see a Manage button at the top.
Create the notes
- Open Create and choose Notes. The New notes page opens.
- Type a Title of at least 3 characters (up to 120).
- Optional: under What do the notes cover?, pick up to 10 topics.
- Select Create notes. The Manage notes page opens.
The notes start as a draft with no file. Select View page at the top at any time to see the notes as other people see them.
Upload the PDF
- Under PDF file, select Upload PDF.
- Choose one PDF file under 100 MB. A bar shows how much has uploaded.
- Wait while Sikhami prepares the file. It makes the file smaller, counts the pages and makes a cover from the first page.
| Status you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting to be processed | The file is uploaded and waiting its turn. |
| Being compressed and previewed | Sikhami is working on the file. |
| Ready | The file is ready. The size and number of pages are shown. |
| Processing failed. Upload the file again. | Something went wrong. Upload the PDF again. |
The manage page updates by itself while the file is being prepared, so you do not need to reload it.
- Only PDF files can be uploaded. Other files show "Please choose a PDF file."
- To use a different file, select Replace PDF.
- To take the file off, select Remove file and confirm. The notes go offline until you upload a new file.
Add a cover and details
Each field has its own Save button, which appears when you change something.
- Cover: made from the first page once the file is ready. To use your own picture, select Choose and upload a JPG or PNG up to 10 MB.
- Title and Description (up to 1000 characters: what the notes cover, which class or exam, and how they help).
- Category: Books, Questions or Notes.
- Track: School, College, Professional, Competition or Others.
- Language: the language the notes are written in.
The Discovery section is optional. It helps learners find your notes in search and filters: Level (the classes or stages the notes are for), topics, Format (the choices depend on the category you picked) and Syllabus session (the April to March session the content follows).
Free or paid
Notes are free until you set a price. Paid notes are sold once: the buyer pays one time and can open the PDF any time after that.
- On the manage page, go to Price and select Set a fee (or Change).
- Type the Amount in rupees (0 = free).
- Check the line under the box. It shows what you receive per sale on sikhami.com and in the Android app. Select How to see the full sum.
- Select Save.
- Prices come in fixed steps. An amount between two steps is saved as the next step up. The lowest price is ₹25 and the highest is ₹1,00,000.
- A price above ₹50,000 can only be paid on sikhami.com.
- To make the notes free again, set the price to 0.
How paid notes are locked
When you set a price, Sikhami moves the PDF to a locked place. Only you and the people who bought the notes can open it. Everyone else sees the price and a button such as Buy for ₹99 instead of Open PDF. If you make the notes free again, the file opens for everyone again.
Sikhami keeps a fee of 20% of the money that reaches it and pays you the rest. See What you earn on Sikhami.
Publish the notes
To publish, the notes need the PDF file, a cover, a Title, a Description, a Category and a Track. The Finish the notes box lists anything still missing (it calls the Track "Sub-category"). Select an item to jump to it.
Then select Publish at the top of the manage page. You see "Published. People can now find the notes."
Edit, unpublish or delete
- You can change the title, description, category and every other detail at any time on the manage page.
- Unpublish: select Unpublish and confirm. The notes disappear from Explore and search. People who bought them keep access.
- Delete notes: in Danger zone, select Delete notes and confirm with Delete. This removes the notes for everyone, including people who bought them. You cannot undo it.
The notes page shows the number of pages, the file size and how many times people opened the PDF. People can also rate and review your notes and ask questions there.
Questions
What files can I upload?
Only PDF files, one per notes, under 100 MB.
Why is there no cover yet?
The cover is made from the first page after the file is prepared. Wait until the status says Ready, or upload your own cover.
Do buyers pay again to open the PDF later?
No. They pay once and can open the PDF any time.
Can I sell notes by the month?
No. Notes have one price, paid once. To sell access for a period, use a club or a membership.
Why can I not publish my notes?
Notes need a PDF file, a cover, a title, a description, a category and a track. The Finish the notes box on the manage page shows what is missing.
