Your Home feed
What you see on Home, the difference between For you and Following, why Home shows only photo, video and voice posts, and why you do not see the same posts twice.
Updated 22 October 2026
Home is the first page you see after you log in. It shows posts from people on Sikhami, short videos called clips, suggestions for things to join, and sometimes a sponsored post.
This article explains what is on Home, how the two tabs For you and Following are different, which posts Home shows, and how Sikhami keeps your feed fresh.
Where to find Home
- On a computer, click Home at the top of the menu on the left, or click the Sikhami logo.
- On a phone, tap Home at the left end of the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.
- If you are not logged in, sikhami.com shows the public homepage instead of the feed. Log in to see your feed. See Sign up and log in.
On a phone, Home has its own top bar: your location pin on the left, the Sikhami logo in the middle, and Notifications (the heart) and Messages on the right.
What is on the Home page
From top to bottom, Home has these parts:
- The tabs For you and Following. They decide which posts you see. See the next section.
- The stories row. Round pictures of people who have posted a story. Your story is first. A story is a photo or video that disappears after 24 hours. See Stories.
- The composer. A box that says "What did you learn today?" with your first name. Click it, or the Post button beside it, to make a post. The small icons under it start a Photo/video post, a Poll, a Video post, a Voice post or a Clip. See Create a post.
- Posts. Each post shows the author's photo and username, how long ago it was posted, the words, the photo, video or voice recording, and a row of buttons to like, comment, repost, share and save.
- Clips. A clip is a short vertical video, like a reel. Some clips appear between the posts.
- Shelves. Rows of suggestions, such as People to follow or Courses to take.
- Sponsored posts. Paid posts from advertisers, always marked Sponsored.
- Suggestions column. On very wide computer screens, a column on the right shows Live now, People to follow, Courses to take, Notes worth reading, Meetups coming up, Clubs to join, Teachers on Sikhami and Institutes on Sikhami. Each part hides itself when it has nothing to show. Phones and smaller screens do not show this column.
For you and Following
The two tabs above the feed show different posts. Click or tap a tab to switch.
| What | For you | Following |
|---|---|---|
| Whose posts | Posts from public accounts across Sikhami, including people you do not follow | Only posts from accounts you follow |
| Order | Video posts and photo or voice posts are mixed, about two videos for each photo or voice post, with more popular posts first | The most popular posts first, not the newest |
| How many | Up to 100 posts in one batch | Up to 200 posts |
| Clips | Yes | No |
| Sponsored posts | Yes, at most one after every six posts | No |
| Posts you have already seen | Left out | Can show again |
Home always opens on For you. It does not remember that you were on Following last time.
If Following is empty, you see "Nothing from your following yet" and a Back to For you button. Follow more people to fill it. See Followers and following.
Which posts Home shows
Home shows only posts that have a photo, a video or a voice recording. These posts never appear on Home:
- Text-only posts (words with no photo, video or voice).
- Polls.
- Reposts (a post you share again on your profile).
These posts are not hidden. People still find them in other places:
| Kind of post | Where people can see it |
|---|---|
| Text-only post | The Posts tab of your profile, Search, and hashtag pages |
| Poll | The Polls tab of your profile and the Polls page |
| Repost | The Posts tab of your profile |
Home also leaves out posts that are archived or deleted, and posts from anyone you have blocked or who has blocked you. For you shows posts from public accounts only. If your account is private, your posts do not appear in other people's For you. See Private account and follow requests.
Clips, shelves and sponsored posts
Clips
In For you, every ten posts come with one clip on its own and a Clips shelf. The clip on its own plays without sound while it is on your screen. Tap the speaker button to turn the sound on, or Watch clip to open it in the clip player. The Clips shelf shows a sideways row of more clips. Swipe the row on a phone, or use the arrows on a computer. See all opens the Clips page. Home only shows clips you have not watched yet, from public accounts. Clips for paying members only never appear on Home. See Watch clips.
Shelves
After every six items in the feed, a shelf shows a sideways row of one kind of thing: People to follow, Clubs to join, Notes worth reading, Meetups coming up, Courses to take, Teachers on Sikhami or Institutes on Sikhami. Each shelf has a See all link to the full list. A shelf shows between 4 and 12 items. If there are fewer than 4, the shelf is not shown.
Sponsored posts
Businesses, teachers and creators can pay to show a post in the feed. These posts carry the word Sponsored where the time would be. They appear only in For you, never in Following. See Sponsored content.
Why you do not see the same posts again
Sikhami remembers which posts and clips you have seen, so it does not show them to you again in For you. A post counts as seen once at least half of it has been on your screen.
- Each time you open Home, Sikhami makes a new For you list if your current list is more than one hour old, or if fewer than 10 posts in it are still unseen. New posts get into your feed this way.
- Your browser also remembers the posts you have seen, so a new visit skips them even before a new list is ready.
- Posts load 10 at a time as you scroll down.
When you reach the end of a batch, you see "You've seen everything in this batch." Click Load a fresh feed to get a new list and go back to the top. If For you is completely empty, you see "You're all caught up" with the same Load a fresh feed button.
If Home shows "Could not load your feed.", check your internet connection and click Try again.
What you can do with a post
- Like it with the heart, or double-tap its photo or video. See Likes, comments and replies.
- Open the comments with the speech bubble.
- Repost it, share it, or save it for later with the bookmark. See Share, repost and save.
- Open the ⋯ menu for Copy link, Report post, Hide or Block. Hide takes the post out of the list you are looking at. On your own posts the menu has View insights, Archive and Delete post. See Archive and delete posts.
- Click a photo to see it full screen.
Questions
I made a text post. Why is it not on Home?
Home shows only posts with a photo, a video or a voice recording. Your text post is on the Posts tab of your profile, and people can find it in Search and on hashtag pages.
Why do I see posts from people I do not follow?
For you shows posts from public accounts across Sikhami, not only from people you follow. To see only the people you follow, switch to the Following tab.
Can I make Following the tab that opens first?
No. Home always opens on For you. Click Following each time you want it.
Why are the newest posts not at the top of Following?
Following puts the most popular posts first, not the newest.
How do I stop seeing posts from someone?
Open the ⋯ menu on their post and choose Block. Posts from blocked accounts never appear in your feed. Hide only removes one post from the list you are looking at. See Block someone.
I have scrolled to the end. How do I get more posts?
Click Load a fresh feed at the bottom of the feed. Sikhami makes a new list with posts you have not seen yet.
