Share posts and more in a chat

How to send a post, clip, course, notes, club, meetup or profile to a friend's chat as a card, what the card shows, and other ways to share a link.

Updated 22 October 2026

You can send things you find on Sikhami straight into a chat. The item arrives as a card: a small preview with a picture, the title and one line of detail. Tapping the card opens the item.

You can also copy the link, or send it on WhatsApp or through another app on your device.

What you can share

PostThe paper plane (Share) under the post
Clip (a short vertical video, like a reel)The paper plane on the right side of the clip
StoryThe paper plane (Share story) at the bottom of the story

A story cannot become a card. When you share a story into a chat, the chat gets its link instead.

Send an item to a chat

  1. Tap the share button on the item. The Share window opens.
  2. Under Recent chats, tap one or more people. A blue tick marks each person you chose. Tap again to remove someone.
  3. Tap Send to 1 person (or, for example, Send to 3 people).
  4. A message says Shared. The card is now in each chat.

Recent chats shows the people from your most recent direct chats, up to 12. Club and meetup chats are not in this list. If you have no chats yet, the list does not show.

To send an item to someone who is not under Recent chats, tap Copy link in the Share window. Then open your chat with them and paste the link as a message on its own. A message that contains only a Sikhami share link is also shown as a card.

What the card shows

  • The kind of item at the top: Post, Clip, Profile, Club, Meetup, Quiz, Notes, Course, Institute or Teacher.
  • Its title, and one line of detail. For example: the author and the first line of a post; the date, time and format of a meetup; the category and price of a course; the category and number of pages of notes.
  • A picture, when the item has one. A clip card has a play sign on it.

The words and picture on a card are a copy made when you sent it. If the owner changes the item later, the card stays the same, but tapping it always opens the item as it is now.

A members-only post or clip shows only "Members-only post" or "Members-only clip", with no picture or words. The person you send it to still needs to be a member to see it.

If the item was deleted before you shared it, only its link is sent.

On the website, a card opens the item's page. A quiz card opens the Quizzes page.

Other ways to share

The bottom part of the Share window, Share to, has these choices:

ChoiceWhat it does
Your storyAdds the clip to your story. This shows only when you share a clip.
WhatsAppOpens WhatsApp with the item's link, ready to send.
Copy linkCopies the link so you can paste it anywhere. A message says Link copied.
MoreOpens your device's own share menu. If your browser does not have one, the link is copied instead.

When someone opens the link on a computer, it goes straight to the item on sikhami.com. On a phone, it opens in the Sikhami app if the app is installed. If not, a page offers the app or View on the web.

Privacy

A card you send into a direct chat is seen only by you and the other person.

Sharing does not unlock anything. Members-only posts and clips, and paid courses, notes, clubs and meetups, stay locked for people who have not joined or paid.

Questions

Can I share an item into a club or meetup chat?

Not from the Share window, which lists direct chats only. Tap Copy link, open the club or meetup chat, and paste the link as a message on its own. It shows as a card.

Can I send an item to several people at once?

Yes. In Recent chats, tap everyone you want, then tap Send to with the number of people.

Why does a card say "Tap to open" with no picture?

It was made from a plain Sikhami link, for example one pasted into the chat or sent from an older version of the app. Tap it to open the item.

Why did my story arrive as a link and not a card?

Stories cannot be shown as cards. The link still opens the story.

Can I share someone else's profile?

The website has a Share profile button only on your own profile. To share another person, copy the address of their profile page from your browser and send it.
