Privacy on Sikhami: who can see what
Who can see your profile, posts, clips, stories, location and messages on Sikhami, what can appear on Google, and the settings that control it.
Updated 23 October 2026
This article explains who can see each part of your Sikhami account. In short: most of Sikhami is only for people who are logged in; a public account's posts can be seen by anyone who is logged in; and a private account keeps its posts for the followers it approves.
For how Sikhami collects, uses and protects your data, read the Privacy Policy.
Logged in or not
Posts, clips, stories, comments, messages and profiles inside Sikhami open only for people who are logged in. A visitor who is not logged in, and search engines like Google, can see only Sikhami's public pages.
Public pages (anyone can see them, including Google)
- Public profile pages for public accounts. They show your name, username, photo, verified badge, bio, college, class or stage, exams, subjects, languages, interests, links, follower, following and post counts, the month you joined, and the notes, clubs and meetups you made. They never show your contact details, your location or your posts.
- No public profile page is made for private accounts, guest accounts, suspended accounts, or learners at school level or under 18.
- A profile with no bio and nothing made still opens from a link, but search engines are asked not to list it.
- Published notes, public clubs, meetups, published courses, institute pages and teacher profiles have public pages too. A meetup's public page never shows its joining link, phone number or address.
- Course certificates can be checked on a public page with the certificate's code.
Public and private accounts
Every new account is public. You can make yours private in Settings. This table shows the difference for people who are logged in:
| What | Public account | Private account |
|---|---|---|
| Name, username, photo, bio and the details at the top of your profile | Everyone | Everyone |
| Your posts | Everyone, including in For you, Explore and search | Only your approved followers, on your profile and in their Following tab |
| Your profile's Posts, Clips, Polls and Voice tabs and your story highlights | Everyone | Only your approved followers |
| Your clips on the Clips page and in search | Yes | No |
| Your stories in the story row | People who follow you | People who follow you |
| Your followers and following lists | Everyone | Everyone |
| Your name in People search | Yes | Yes |
| Your lives on the Live page | Yes | No |
| A public profile page on Google | Yes (adults only) | No |
| Who can send you a message | Anyone logged in | Anyone logged in |
Details are in Private account and follow requests.
Your profile details
- Your email address, phone number, date of birth and gender are not shown on your profile page.
- Filters in People search can use gender and age range, but these are not shown on your profile.
- Open to connect in Edit profile puts you in the Open to connect filter of People search. Turn it off to leave that filter.
- When you fill in a form on an ad, your name, email, phone, city, state and exam may be filled in for you. They go to the advertiser only if you send the form, and you can change them first.
Stories, likes and views
- When you watch someone's story, they can see your name in the story's Viewers list.
- When you like a post, people who follow you may see Liked by with your name under that post.
- The views number under a post shows how many accounts have seen it. It does not show who they are, and neither do the post's insights.
Messages
- Only the two people in a chat can read its messages.
- Club and meetup chats can be read only by their members and the club owner or meetup host.
- Anyone who is logged in can start a chat with you, even if your account is private. Between accounts where one has blocked the other, the Message button is hidden.
See Messages and Block someone.
Members-only content
Some creators sell memberships. Posts and clips they make for members only can be opened only by the creator and people with an active membership. Everyone else sees a lock. See Memberships.
Your location
If you set your location, only your area (about a kilometre) is saved, never your exact spot. Your profile page does not show it. You can remove it at any time. See Your location.
Settings that protect your privacy
- Private account in Settings: only approved followers see your posts, clips, polls, voice posts and highlights on your profile.
- Blocked accounts in Settings: you and the people you block stop seeing each other's profiles and posts.
- Location in the menu: set or remove your area.
- Notifications in Settings: choose which notifications and emails you get.
- Account in Settings: delete your account. See Delete your account.
Read the full Privacy Policy for how your data is handled. Questions about your data can be sent to help@sikhami.com.
