Course analytics
See how your video course is doing: how many students joined, how far they got, where they stop, how they score in tests, and each student's progress, which you can download as a CSV file.
Updated 28 October 2026
The Analytics tab of a video course shows how your students are learning. It counts the students in the course, shows how far each one has got, which lecture most students stop at, and how the tests go.
The figures are worked out fresh each time you open the tab, from your students' progress. Click Refresh to see the latest numbers without leaving the page.
Open the analytics
- Open the Learning studio, go to My courses and click the course.
- Open the Analytics tab. It is there for video courses only.
The course owner and the course's co-teachers can see the analytics. Students cannot.
In the Android app
Open your course and, under Teaching tools, tap Analytics. A co-teacher finds the course under Courses you co-teach and taps Analytics. The app shows the same figures. To get the student list as a file, tap Share CSV, then save it or send it to an app.
The numbers at the top
| Tile | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Enrolled | Everyone who joined the free course or bought the paid course, including students whose access period has ended. You, the owner, are not counted. |
| Active this week | Students whose progress changed in the last 7 days. |
| Average progress | The average, across all enrolled students, of the share of lectures and tests each one has finished. |
| Finished | Students who finished every lecture and test, and that number as a share of everyone enrolled. |
| Started | Students who have opened or finished at least one lecture or test. |
| Certificates | Certificates of completion students have claimed. See Course tests and certificates. |
| Doubts | All doubts students have asked in the course. |
| Doubts to answer | Doubts the course owner has not replied to yet. See Announcements and doubts for teachers. |
Progress counts lectures and tests. If you add new lectures, every student's progress goes down a little, because they have not finished the new ones yet.
Enrolments, last 30 days
The chart shows how many students joined the course on each of the last 30 days (by Indian time). Use it to see whether a post, an announcement or a coupon brought new students.
Where learners stop
This list shows every lecture and test in course order, under its section. Beside each one, a bar shows how many of your enrolled students finished it, as a number and a percentage. Tests carry a Test tag.
- The bars usually get shorter towards the end of a course. A sudden big drop shows a lecture where many students stop.
- Look at that lecture: it may be too long, too hard or missing something. Splitting it, adding an example or answering doubts on it can help.
- A test that few students finish may be too long or too hard for that point in the course.
Tests
If the course has tests, a table shows each one:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Took it | How many students tried the test at least once. |
| Passed | How many of them reached the pass mark, and that as a share of those who took it. |
| Avg best | The average of each student's best score. |
| Attempts | All attempts together, including repeats. |
The student list and the CSV file
Under Students you see every enrolled student, most recently active first. Each row shows when they were last active (or Not started), how many tests they passed, Certified if they claimed a certificate, and a progress bar with their percentage. Use Search students to find someone by name or username.
Click CSV to download the list as a spreadsheet file. It has these columns: Name, Username, Enrolled, Progress %, Items completed, Tests passed, Certificate, Last active and Access ends (the date the student's access ends, or Lifetime).
The list shows up to 5,000 students. When a course has more, you see Showing the first 5,000 learners.
Questions
Why does Enrolled show more students than are watching now?
Enrolled counts everyone who ever joined or bought the course, including students whose access period has ended. Use Active this week to see who is learning now.
Does my own watching count?
No. The course owner is not counted as a student.
Can I see how much money the course made here?
No. Analytics shows learning, not money. See Earnings and payouts for sales.
Is there analytics for a classroom (face-to-face) course?
No. The Analytics tab is only for video courses. For classroom batches, see attendance in Batches, timetable and attendance.
How often are the numbers updated?
They are worked out when you open the tab. Click Refresh for the latest figures.
