Coupon codes for your course

Give buyers a discount on your paid video course with a coupon code: a percentage or a fixed amount off, with an optional use limit and end date. Learn how to create, pause and delete codes and what buyers see.

Updated 28 October 2026

A coupon code lets a buyer pay less for your paid video course. You choose the code, for example DIWALI20, and how much it takes off: a percentage (such as 20 percent off) or a fixed amount in rupees (such as ₹200 off). You can limit how many times it can be used and set the last day it works.

You share the code yourself, for example in a post, a club or a message. The buyer types it at checkout, and Sikhami lowers the price before they pay.

Where to find coupons

Open the Learning studio, go to My courses, click your course and open the Coupons tab.

  • The Coupons tab appears only for a video course that has a price. A free course has nothing to discount.
  • Only the course owner sees it. Co-teachers do not manage prices or coupons.
  • Coupons work only for courses. You cannot make a coupon for a course bundle, a club, notes or anything else.

In the Android app

Open your course and, under Teaching tools, tap Coupons. The button shows only when the course has a price. The screen has the same fields as the website.

Create a coupon

  1. Under New coupon, type the Code. Use 3 to 24 letters or numbers. Letters become capitals, and anything other than letters, numbers, "-" and "_" is removed.
  2. Choose % off or ₹ off.
  3. Type the Percent off (1 to 100) or the Rupees off (1 or more).
  4. Set Max uses: how many purchases can use the code. 0 means no limit.
  5. Pick a Valid until date if the code should stop working. It works until the end of that day. Leave it empty for no end date. In the app the box shows No end date until you pick one.
  6. Check the line under the fields. It shows what your lowest price would cost with this code, for example "A ₹1000 plan would cost ₹800 with this code."
  7. Click Create coupon. The code appears in the list below.

Each code must be new for this course. If you see That code already exists for this course., choose another code. The same code can be used again on a different course of yours, as a separate coupon.

How buyers use a coupon

  1. The buyer opens your course and starts to buy it.
  2. On the website they type the code in Coupon code and click Apply. In the Android app they tap Have a coupon?, type the code and tap Apply.
  3. The new price shows before they pay. On the website, if they then choose a different period (for example 1 year instead of 6 months), they apply the code again for that period.
  4. They pay the lower price.
  • A code works for every period the course is sold for: 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or Lifetime, whichever you sell.
  • A percentage discount is rounded down to whole rupees. The price after a coupon is never less than ₹1.
  • In the Android app, Google Play charges only fixed prices, so the app price after the coupon is rounded up to the nearest Google Play price. The app shows this to the buyer.
  • A use is counted only when the payment is complete. A buyer who opens checkout and leaves does not use up the code.
  • Codes are not case-sensitive for buyers: diwali20 and DIWALI20 are the same code.

When a code cannot be used, the buyer sees why: That coupon code is not valid for this course. (wrong code, or a paused code), That coupon has expired. or That coupon has been used up.

Pause, resume or delete a coupon

Each coupon in the list shows the code, the discount, how many times it was used (for example used 3 of 50) and the end date. A tag shows paused, used up or expired when the code cannot be used.

  • Pause stops the code from working at once. Resume turns it back on.
  • The delete button removes the code. You are asked to confirm: Buyers can no longer use it. Purchases already made are not changed.
  • You cannot edit a coupon after you create it. To change the discount, the limit or the date, delete it and create a new one.

What a coupon does to your earnings

Your earnings are worked out on the price the buyer actually pays, after the coupon. A coupon for 20 percent off on a ₹1,000 course means the sale is ₹800, and the platform fee and your share are worked out on ₹800.

Questions

Can I make a coupon that gives my course for free?

No. Even 100% off leaves a price of ₹1, because a free course is joined, not bought. To give the course free to everyone, make the course free instead.

Why does the app charge a little more than the website with the same code?

Google Play only charges fixed prices. In the app, the price after the coupon is rounded up to the nearest Google Play price.

Can I see who used my coupon?

The coupon list shows how many times each code was used. It does not list the buyers. Everyone who bought the course appears in the student list in Analytics.

Does a coupon work on a bundle that has my course in it?

No. Coupons work only when someone buys the course itself.

Can a co-teacher create coupons?

No. Only the course owner sees the Coupons tab.
