Calendar, homework, tests and parents

The calendar

Click Calendar in your workspace. It shows a week of classes from every batch's timetable, day by day. Use the arrows to move between weeks; click the dates to come back to this week. A teacher sees the batches they teach.

• Cancel class: marks one class as cancelled. Add a reason if you like, and leave Tell the students on to send them a message. Bring it back undoes it.
• Extra class: adds a one-off class to a batch on a date, with its own class link if it has one.
• Attendance opens the batch's attendance.

The evening Class tomorrow reminder follows the calendar: it skips cancelled classes and includes extra ones.

Homework

1. 1Open a batch and click the Homework tab, then New homework.
2. 2Write a title, the instructions and a due date. Add links to worksheets if you have them.
3. 3Leave Tell the students on to send them the homework as a message.
4. 4Click Set homework.

Students with a Sikhami account hand it in under My learning → their batch → Homework and marks, as text and a link (for example a photo in Google Drive). Click a homework to see who handed it in, give a grade and a comment, and click Mark checked. Students without an account can be marked checked too.

Tests, marks and report cards

1. 1In the batch, click Tests and marks, then New test.
2. 2Type the test name, date and the maximum marks, then each student's marks. Type AB for absent.
3. 3Switch on Published when the marks are final. Students and parents see their own marks, with the class average; nobody sees another student's marks.
4. 4Click Save.

Each student's page (under Students) has a Report card per batch: the tests, attendance and the teacher's remarks. Write remarks there and click Print for a printable copy.

Parents

• On a student's page, the Parent card holds the parent's name, phone number and email.
• Make parent link creates a private link and copies it. The parent opens it without an account and sees the child's classes, attendance, published marks, homework and fees. Send on WhatsApp opens a chat with the parent's number. New link stops the old link.
• In New message, switch on Email parents too to send parents the same message. {name} still stands for the student.
• Under Messages → Automatic reminders, Email parents too sends parents the fee due and absent today reminders.

Only the owner and admins can change parent details and make parent links. Share a link only with that student's parent.
